Rules for Carrying Sports Equipment in American Airlines

The following table illustrates the various sporting equipments that are allowed on Americal Airlines. It also mentions the associated costs and the restrictions on weight and size for carrying these.

Bikes Only 1 non-motorised bike is allowed on conditions that it is packed in a hard-sided case, bike bag or box, handlebars are fixed sideways, pedals are detached and both handlebars and pedals are wrapped in plastic foam material. If size less than 62 inches and weight less than 50 lbs, first or second check in bag allowance rule applies. If it exceeds weight or dimension, then $150 is charged.  70 lbs and 126 inches 
Boogie, skim or speed board Only 1 allowed If size less than 62 inches and weight less than 50 lbs, first or second check in bag allowance rule applies. If it exceeds weight or dimension, then $150 is charged.  50 lbs. and 62 inches
Camping equipment   1 piece of camping equipment allowed. But, not allowed to take stoves, sterno, fuels, matches, lighters same as check in baggage fee 50 lbs and 62 inches

 Scuba gear (with tanks)   1 scuba tank and harness, and 1 tank harness and pressure gauge allowed. Regulator valve needs to be disconnected from cylinder and cylinder shall have an opening for inspection $150 70 lbs 
 Scuba gear (without tanks)   Scuba regulator with tank harness and pressure gauge same as check in baggage fee 50 lbs and 62 inches
 Shooting equipment   Upto 3 rifles or shotguns; or, up to 5 revolvers or pistols; or, upto 5 kg ammunition, shooting mat and noise suppressor tools allowed same as check in baggage fee 50 lbs and 62 inches
